There are multiple ways to find a job, and the best way is not always the one you think:
- Networking: Is the most efficient way of finding a job: Family, friends, colleagues, meeting new people (meet-ups), Networking clubs, foundations (Engineer Australia, etc…), volunteering, alumni
- Hidden job market: Identify someone who works for each of the companies your interests and jobs are (conduct informal interviews, send a letter of inquiry, ask for the names of people you might talk who can advise you)
- Traditional job search: Company websites, Internet job sites (www.indeed.com, www.ieee.org), Newspapers (journal, publications), Headhunter, Linkedin/Twitter
It is highly recommended to follow all the techniques at the same time and not spend 100% of your time on applications
