Learn the best practice of going plastic free and offsetting your carbon emissions.
ESRAG has been chosen to give one of the featured breakouts at the the first-ever Rotary International Virtual International Convention.
Rotary 7th Area of Focus: Greening Rotary Events
Rotarians around the world have been going through a crash course on meeting without driving or eating together, so it’s hard to imagine a better time to equip them to make Rotary meetings plastic-free and empower them to reduce their carbon footprint.
Moderated by ESRAG’s Communications Director Karen Kendrick-Hands, the panelists highlight the steps: WHY (Karen) we need to green meetings, how to PLAN (Vic Grosjean), DO (Pat Armstrong), CHECK (Dakota Stormer) and ACT (Clari Nolet).
Goals and results:
-
- Avoid plastics, reduce carbon, save money by greening your event.
- Acknowledge and address perceived barriers to implementing environmental sustainability practices in clubs and districts
- Gather key recommendations to organise green events within a handbook.
- Lead Rotarians to plan their events and activities by implementing environmental sustainability practices.
- Reduce the impacts of Rotarian events on the environment.
- Develop an environmental ethic throughout our clubs and districts
- Promote each club having an environmental committee for each club to act in the common interest
- Enhance member recruitment to strengthen Rotary Clubs by practicing care for the environment, which will attract new younger members.
