Vic Grosjean Keynote Speaker at Rotary International Life Below Water Symposium in Bermuda.
The Life Below Water Rotary International symposium between New York and Bermuda occurred in September 2022.
The following keynote speakers were included in the program:
- Lis Mullin Bernhardt – Programme Officer, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
- Past Rotary International President, Barry Rassin, Rotary Club of East Nassau,
- Dr. Chris King, whose topic is Threats of Climate Change to Peace.
- C. Mark Eakin, Satellite Oceanography & Climatology Division, Marine Ecosystems & Climate Branch, Coordinator of NOAA Coral Reef Watch
- Vic Grosjean, MEng, MSc, CEng, NER, Chartered Engineer, Oceanographer,
speaking on the topic of Mangrove Restoration - RID Drew Kessler, RI Director for 2022-24
- PDG Melissa Ward, Symposium Chair
Karen D. Kendrick-Hands (Co-founder of ESRAG) & Richard Randolph and Dr Christopher Puttock spoke at the conference. Mary Eileen Shackleton, Larry Hands, and many others have supported the Mangrove restoration activity in Bermuda.
The total trash collected was 2600lbs calculated by KBB.
There were 5-gallon pots of rhizophora seedling planted and 35 “pods” planted at the lagoon site. There may have been more at the second lagoon site.
The number of volunteer hours in invasive species removal and mangrove work, and removal of waste from the four sites will be added to the Irotree app and PIR as soon as they are all available.
